Microsoft indirectly supports software piracy?

As you are probably aware, Microsoft is now presenting its defense in its
lawsuit against the DOJ. Government attorney David Boies questioned
Microsoft's first witness (MIT economics professor Richard Schmalansee)
extensively about what threats Microsoft faces in the marketplace.

Schmalansee listed off some things that he thought would restrain
Microsoft's dominance. One of his items was... software piracy! Yup.
Apparently piracy is a reasonable way to deal with the excesses of
monopolists. Let's hope software pirates around the world are listening
here, so they can bring this to the court's attention when Microsoft sues
them for breaking copyright laws.

Also, a tip for Schmalansee. He forgot to include nuclear winter and acts
of God on his list.
